Design Aims

We aim to produce sustainable life enhancing environments for happy clients (who tend to be fully involved in the design process). Our approach is strongly contextual, and we take great trouble to blend the old with the new. The reduction of perceived bulk to achieve a comfortable human scale is a particularly important preoccupation.

We are long on construction experience and well aware of the commercial imperative to produce architecture that is relevant and saleable. Thoughtful CAD design allied with careful project planning ensure that the very best use is made of design and construction resources.

Background History And Experience

We have been practicing since the middle 1980s. Before 2005 Argent Architects were based in Pembroke and much of our design work involves projects in the Pembroke area. Since moving to Tenby our main catchment area remains Pembrokeshire, but we also work extensively in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion and indeed throughout Wales.

High standards have been rewarded, notably with a Prince of Wales Award for the restoration of Carew Tidal Mill and a Civic Trust Award for the construction of Treginnis Farm School near St Davids. Both partners trained at Cambridge University under Sir Lesley Martin, Colin St John Wilson and Peter Eisenman. Michael Argent did his post graduate training at the world renowned Architectural Association in London where Richard Rogers, Norman Foster, Peter Cook and David Wilde where prominent on the staff. Each partner has more than 30 years experience. In addition to the projects listed below, they have designed and run many other jobs particularly in the fields of housing, sport / leisure health and office design. As can be seen from the selection of projects below, in addition to new build work, we have renovated many historic buildings.
