To celebrate the renewal of its partnership with the Luna Rossa team that won the Prada Cup at the recent Copa America, Panerai presents the new Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01342, a special edition offering a modern interpretation of sailing with white, Style in grey and red palette.
The 44mm stainless steel case is polished to complement the polished levers and contrast with the brushed crown protector. The sturdy caseback has a brushed finish. Guaranteed waterproof to a pressure of 10 bar (approx. 100 meters / 330 feet).
A matte white dial protected by a sapphire crystal, grey Arabic numerals and hour-markers, enriched by a red small seconds hand at 9 o’clock with a personalised Luna Rossa logo. The hands, numerals and hour-markers are treated with Super-LumiNova, which glows green.
The watch is powered by the P.6000 movement with a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and a power reserve of three days. This hand-wound movement is particularly robust thanks to the double bridge that supports the regulator and the Incabloc anti-vibration device.
The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01342 includes two straps: a grey bi-material strap with red stripes emblazoned with the team's logo, and a black rubber with a steel pin buckle.
Panerai launches the LUMINOR LUNA ROSA PAM01342 watch
Panerai and Luna Rossa collaborate on a new limited edition Luminor.
In case you didn't know, Panerai has always been a brand dedicated to nautical things, be it sailing on the waves or diving under them. In 2022, they will launch a new Luna Rossa collection. Now, we all know that when Panerai says it's releasing a "new look" watch, they mean "the watch is almost the same as before, but with one detail that's changed" and that's pretty much what's happening here .
The thing is, if we're being honest, we don't want Panerai's design to change too much. We love the cushion-shaped cases they've been making, their dials are clear, and they've been upping their sports game over the years. It would be foolish to run away from it instead of embracing it.
Instead, what they did was release the new Luminor with a white dial. That doesn't sound like much, but Panerais with white dials are very rare, with black and blue dominating their range. This unique hue in the lineup is exactly what this watch needs to work with the die-hard Paneristi, who usually require the least amount of convincing to get a sale.
To make this watch even more special, it is paired with Luna Rossa, the world-renowned sailing team and winner of the America’s Cup Prada Cup. Panerai has released watches paired with the Luna Rossa before, and they are usually beautiful watches, and this one is no exception. With its clean white sandwich dial and red second hand, it screams class. Thankfully, this watch doesn't have a date window, it really doesn't need it.
Behind this dial is the hand-wound calibre P.6000, which has a barrel that provides a 72-hour reserve. The beat rate is 3Hz, and the watch uses Incabloc shock absorbers to help it beat at sea (or anywhere else). It's all perfectly encased in a polished 44mm stainless steel case with Panerai's signature crown locking mechanism. The case is water resistant to 100m and comes with a black rubber strap or a grey 'bi-material' rubber and fabric strap with a neat red line and Luna Rossa text.
